I’m thrilled to introduce you to TalktoYourKids.tv!
By day I’m a professional therapist who specializes in the Christ-centered treatment of sex addiction. But I’m a husband and dad 24/7 to the three most important people in the world.
As for how I birthed this service, well, it’s been a painful process. I’m still smarting from having spent practically all day on the phone with tech support from three different companies. In spite of my best efforts, I’ve not been able to make the Internet a safe place for my kids. And if you’re a concerned parent, let me tell you the truth - I don’t think you can’t either.
Earlier this evening, Renee (my wife of 22 years), was ready to encourage me. She knows more than anyone else on the planet how fried I am with how media is baiting our children. Her advice was simple. “Rob, don’t waste your experience today. Help other families learn what they need to know. They love their children just as much as we love ours.”
Because of the challenges that face our families this very moment (even in our own homes due to the Internet and other media) and with more than 25 years of professional experience, I have big plans for TalktoYourKids.tv.
- First, I pray that in all of my efforts, I bring glory to God. I mean it. I want to share with you how God – the ultimate parent – is worthy of our devotion and duty. He’s our only hope. He alone is sufficient.
- Second, I want to share with you what I’m learning about how to protect and nurture our children. They are growing up in a decadent time and place, and it’s up to us to advocate for them. But there’s a fine balance between safeguarding them and smothering them, and we must find it.
- Third, this blog is where I’m going to sound off as a dad. Yep, that’s right. I’m committed to creating content that my children may one day use to help nurture and guide their children, and their children’s children. Now that’s my vision! Something for the future generations. Something that demonstrates that we were not sleeping on our watch!
Over time, this site will have an active (and I hope with your help, interactive) blog, member-only e-correspondence courses, group coaching teleconferences, private coaching, a robust FAQ, an advice column, and interviews with various experts.
